Photographing a first birthday and planning a fun cake smash session can be so much fun. If we can be honest first birthdays are a way for parents to celebrate keeping the baby alive especially when its the first baby. When a child comes into your life you have no idea what to expect since each child is so different so most parents are taking on the new trend of celebrating first birthdays with having their children photographed while they destroy a cake.

While this young chap was unsure of his cake at first he had no problem smashing it as we progressed with the pictures. its safe to say that he had a ball smashing it and chopping it with the axe, as we all know using an axe to chop is a lot of hard work Gavin came tumbling from exerting himself.

While some families choose to have the birthday boy or birthday girl in the pictures by themselves here at Seraphine Photography we like to encourage the entire family to plan on having the entire family photographed even if its just for a couple of pictures and here is why, this is a milestone for everyone in the family and everyone’s life was affected as you got to experience the first year with the new child in your family. When you have a newborn baby the baby changes everyone in the family. In addition, your child will cherish their first birthday celebration pictures as much as they will cherish looking through their newborn or high school graduation pictures some day in the near future perhaps even looking through their baby albums with their children and grand children when they are all grown.
