Couture Dresses Milestone Sessions</a>
Following last years traveling dress project, I decided to embark on couture dress traveling dresses this year and to say its been an exciting project will be an understatement of the century.
Through this project I have watched many girls show their princess spirit but more than anything else show their personality and have fun while doing it. I watched their families and moms watch their daughters burst into excitement and joy. Finding Joy in the midst of a pandemic and finding sunshine and something to rejoice in when their lives as they’ve known it get pulled under the rug.
This project was birthed from the idea of getting a dress to photograph my daughters birthday portraits since she’s a winter baby her birthday portraits tend to be indoors. So we were looking for a little extra magic but we had no idea that the magic that lived within us would always be present.
The first dress was the Red Emersyn Butterfly Dress size 8 this dress fit girls from age 6 to age 11 and I photographed 4 girls including my daughter. Here are some portraits from the sessions.
The second dress in line was the mint Hadley dress. As always we photographed a wide array of girls ranging from 6 year old to a 10 year old. The girls were eager to twirl and dance in the dress, its length allows for it to flow as they move. It has a full skirt and the softness and sheen from the silk photographed so well. We created several portraits in studio and some outdoors at The Bradley Estate in Canton MA.
The Third dress was the the Blue Peony Dress and The Mint Hadley Dress and being that the dresses came in the summer the sessions varied from outdoor portraits at the Eleanor Bradley Estate to portraits taken at our Boston Portrait Studio located in Randolph. again for this dresses we had girls from age 5 to 11 years. The Little Dreamers Tutu couture dresses are so versatile and fit a wide range of girls.
I decided to start acquiring a wardrobe for the girls and next came the red dress that arrived in the summer. So with that we photographed 2 portraits at the Bradley Estate and Ames free library as you can see in the portraits the dress is more swishy and flowy than twirly since it doesn’t have an underskirt tutu. None the less it was fun for my girls.
Next on line was the Dusty Purple Ariel Dress. This dress is had a full tutu underskirt and the details on the beading was none like i’ve seen but again in perfect harmony with the other little dreamers tutus we’ve had in studio.
Next on line was the Red Brinely Dress which came in time for the holiday portraits. This dress is also swishy and flowy, it was perfect for the studio and the detail in the lace is exquisite.
Then in perfect time to celebrate the holiday season we had the Nutcracker Dress. This dress had all good things we associate with the holidays nutcracker, sugar plum and the land of sweets all in the print of the fabric. My little ballerina dancers had an amazing time dancing in studio in it.
To wrap 2020 and leap into 2021 is the Penelope Winter Princess Dress which is white with blue and gold embrodiedy flowers and while tulle with pearls to top. This Dress was specifically bought for the winter birthday photos and we cant wait to see how the girls love frocking it.
While these sessions are created with the girls in mind we generally invite moms and sometimes siblings or family to join in the festivity. The sessions have been great for mother daughter bonding time and sometimes a great refuge to celebrate the girls milestones so the family could join at the end.
We plan to continue the Couture girls sessions in 2021 for the pre teen girls the sessions are a great way to celebrate your child as they embark on the new phase in their lives and more importantly create portraits that will remain a physical and constant reminder that they are beautiful, strong, amazing and loved just as they are.
